JOB SUMMARY

  • Connecting carers by providing a wide range of activities and support groups
  • Raise awareness so carers know what is available to them.
  • Support carers to improve their confidence, mental health, and wellbeing by looking after themselves.
  • Consult and Involve carers in having a voice on activities, events, and training for carers.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop an annual programme of therapeutic and social based activities for carers.
  • Plan, Promote and Implement Carers Week and Carers Rights Day events annually working with Carers Service staff and volunteers.
  • Plan a quarterly open day/dropin session. Promote to other agencies, Carers Service staff and carers.
  • Develop an annual confidence and selfesteem training programme for carers.
  • Oversee and manage the various peer support groups for carers.
  • Work with colleagues to design the flyers, set up spreadsheets and circulate the information to carers ensuring a smooth booking system for all activities.
  • Utilise the support of volunteers to help set up activity sessions and tidy up after the sessions.

MONTORING AND EVALUATION

  • Ensure all activities have completed signing in sheets, feedback/evaluation forms are uploaded to Charity Log
  • Liaise with Admin in data collection for quarter reports
  • Complete quarterly reports with photos showcasing the activities and the positive impact on carers.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To achieve personal and organisational targets
  • Actively encourage Carers to engage and participate in our services.
  • Raise awareness of the needs and issues of Carers amongst our partners, other agencies, professionals, and the public
  • Develop and work collaboratively with voluntary, statutory, and private sector organisations.
  • Identify and report on gaps in the support and service provision for Carers and those they care for
  • To supervise volunteers within the project
  • To maintain accurate referral records and statistics relating to the project
  • To produce regular reports to monitor and evaluate the progress of the project.
  • To ensure that project monies are used within the agreed budget.

SUPERVISION AND DEVELOPMENT

  • To attend regular Supervision and Appraisal sessions
  • Participate in promotional activities outside the office, occasionally requiring work outside office hours on a flexi time basis.
  • To fully participate in staff meetings, any subgroups and mandatory training as and when required
  • Contribute to the development of Carers Service

  • Implement and promote equality and diversity policy.
  • Follow GDPR data protection laws in relation to the storage of data.
  • To work in accordance with all Blackburn with Darwen Carers Service policies and procedures


To undertake any other duties which may from time to time be required and which are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post and support the overall ethos, principles & practices of the organisation.
