Overview:


The Catering & Events Coordinator will assist with the daily operations and development of the Cathedrals Events, Catering, and Café functions.

Working with the Enterprise Development Manager the Catering & Events Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day management of catering functions as well as internal and external events and is expected to ensure that an excellent level of customer service continues to be delivered to all guests.


Main Tasks

  • To ensure that Checks and Greys operates profitably, effectively and efficiently, responding to and growing customer demand with high quality and excellent service, while increasing both turnover and net profit, and minimising waste.
  • To implement agreed actions which promote the commercial opportunities of the Cathedral and its suitability as a venue for both business, churchrelated and personal bookings and other special events.
  • To assist with some line management responsibility for Café staff, including actions to ensure that staffing levels are appropriate for the level of customer demand, and that staff are well
- trained and confident in their roles.

  • To have responsibility for daily transactions and daily reconciliations.
  • To have responsibility for hosting and managing an event, communication of service requirements and standards of operation to staff.
  • To share in the identification and management of issues relating to the cleaning and standard maintenance of Checks and Greys and other areas of the Cathedral involved in commercial activity.
  • To ensure that all legislation relating to catering and business functions is observed by the Cathedral, and that Checks and Greys and other areas of the Cathedral used for commercial activities are clean, safe and hygienic.
  • To maintain effective and positive liaison with all key staff and volunteers at the Cathedral.

Key Responsibilities

  • To oversee the cafe during service times, ensuring that service runs efficiently and effectively.
  • Host, manage and assist with internal and external catering functions and hospitality.
  • To manage shifts and ensure that the serving of food and drink is efficiently and effectively managed by supervisors.
  • Ensure catering calendar entries are checked and requirements fulfilled; menus and information are properly displayed to customers; café Is clean and fully stocked and kitchen is ready for trade.
  • To plan rotas and staff requirements for the café and events team, to ensure staff wellbeing and commercial efficiency.
  • To complete checks on Food Safety Management Paperwork.
  • To work in close liaison with EDM to ensure that information and communication concerning café, events and catering is passed on effectively.
  • To ensure compliance with rules of food hygiene and health and safety including allergen processes
  • To agree and implement pricing levels EDM for both day to day catering and special events, both at Checks and Greys and in other Cathedral venues, and to produce up to date management data so that pricing and stock levels can be closely managed and monitored.
  • To maintain inventories of event equipment to ensure that stocks are maintained, and storerooms are kept tidy and ready for use. Liaise with EDM regarding replacements required.
  • To assist the EDM with planning, hosting and managing internal and external events and catering.
  • Ensuring that set ups and break downs for all event types are carried out to company standard.
  • Provide delivery and leadership of both small & large events.
  • Deal with customers in a prompt and professional manner, dealing with any complaints effectively, or escalating those that you are unable to deal with at the time.
  • Deliver staff briefings for events.
  • Ensure the security of the premises, stock, and cash, following the company cash handling procedures.
  • Responsible for use of tills and backoffice Epos Procedures.
  • First point of call for dealing with issues on the day/evening of the event and liaising with other Cathedral Staff.
  • To be a nominated First Aider (Training will be provided).

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • A minimum 2 years previous experience in Hospitality Events / Catering / Retail / Events in a Supervisor / Manager capacity
  • The ability to lead a team.
  • Ability to build relationships and promote a positive work environment.
  • Ability to identify strong team members and recommend upskilling.
