Publicist and Administrator

Buchanan PR need someone who can assist the director and team on existing projects, run their own accounts and cover for our administrator who is heading off on maternity leave. We're looking for a strong and supportive team player with a friendly demeanour. You will need to have a good level of computer literacy, ability to work to deadlines, work on several shows simultaneously, have excellent organisational skills and a strong attention to detail. It is also essential that you see yourself in this industry for the long haul, have a real passion for what you do and the desire to learn.

Publicist duties include:

  • Attending and working at press nights, covering red carpet arrivals, interval press drinks and after-show parties, where applicable
  • Assist in organising press launches
  • Writing and issuing press releases
  • Pitching ideas to the media
  • Researching new contacts for specific events/ features
  • Organising the logistics of interviews and accompanying actors/directors/writers etc. to interviews
  • Dealing with press enquiries
  • Making sure press reports are updated
  • Reporting to clients
  • Occasionally attending marketing meetings
  • Travelling to venues to attend press nights, meetings, etc., where applicable
  • Liaising closely with venue press officers for touring shows

Administrator duties include:

  • Sending daily press cuttings emails to the clients
  • Inviting critics, media, journalists, influencers and celebrities to press nights/launches/media events
  • Managing event attendance spreadsheets and providing the director with regular RSVP updates
  • Regularly updating our contact database
  • Regularly updating press coverage reports
  • Responding to general enquiries in an appropriate manner

Regular working hours are 10.00am – 6.00pm Monday to Friday, with a one-hour lunch break. There will be occasional work on evenings and at weekends.

Salary is commensurate with experience but will be reviewed after 6 months. You will be offered a workplace pension.
