About Aberlour Family Matters South Ayrshire

Aberlour Family Matters works in partnership with South Ayrshire Council and offers support to mums and dads who havehad children permanently removed from their care. You will offer individual and group support alongsiderelationship based and strengths focused whole family support where appropriate. You will also work with SouthAyrshire Council partners to ensure the voices and experiences of parents, carers and practitioners can helpsupport the ongoing improvement of the permanence process. The project has been funded by Scottish Governmentsince April 2022.

You will build up relationships with families facing disadvantage and work together with them to assess theirstrengths and needs and deliver an agreed family plan, offering emotional and practical support. You will workindividually and in groups to strengthen health and wellbeing, building esteem, skills and confidence.

What we are looking for....

We are looking for a kind, committed and experienced individual to join our team.

You will have experience in working alongside partner services and families who have often experienced the impact oftrauma, poverty, and social exclusion. You will have good listening skills and be able to plan, deliver andevaluate a range of family and wellbeing support strategies which help families to their own solutions. You willhave experience of child and adult protection issues. Your values should be aligned with The Promise, GIRFEC andUNCRC as well as Aberlour values. You must share our vision that collaborative working, relationship based,strengths focussed early intervention is the best option for children and families who are feeling overwhelmedor excluded.

We have three roles available, 30 hours per week (2 posts) and 22.5 hours per week, these hours will be planned andworked flexibly Monday - Sunday 7am-10pm to meet the needs of families we support. This post is currently fundeduntil 31st March 2025, however we will be actively seeking funding to extend this further.

It would be helpful if candidates hold a valid driver's licence and have use of a car for working hours, the rolewill cover the whole of South Ayrshire.

Our Service is a busy respite service for children and young people with complex health needs, including severelearning and physical disabilities. As well as providing short residential breaks, the service offers outreachto families and is also involved in the managing and running of an after-school club as well as a busy Easterand summer playscheme.

What we are looking for....

We are looking to recruit to our Summer playscheme programme. Our playscheme runs 5 days per week, Monday to Friday,during the school holidays. You will work flexible hours as part of a team providing a programme of fun-filledactivities and outings. Some previous experience in this area is preferred. Enthusiasm and a willingness tolearn and work hard are essential. To allow us to provide a consistent, quality service it is desirable thatapplicants commit to working up to 5 days per week during the summer school holidays for a minimum of 12 hoursper week. There will be an opportunity to work additional hours up to full time hours. Days will be given inadvance. Our playschemes run in both Ayr and Girvan and staff may be expected to work at both sites. Mandatorytraining dates for staff will be arranged during the month of June before the commencement of theplayscheme.

Options Fife Respite and Outreach provides a range of flexible support through outreach and overnight short breaks atweekends, evenings and school holidays to children and young people with complex learning disabilities andautism. We are looking to recruit a Young People's Worker Nights, working four nights on (10 hours per night) every secondweek. You will play a fundamental role in ensuring that the young people you work with have the best possibleexperience in working towards their objectives in line with their care plan, supporting children to progresswithin their individual outcomes. Whilst not without its challenges and demands, this is a highly rewardingrole, where the work we do has a demonstrable impact on each young person's progress. Using a person-centredapproach, you will provide enabling support ensuring the highest level of physical, personal, and emotionalcare. We support young people who have epilepsy, need personal care and need gastrostomy feeding. Aberlour, inconjunction with NHS, provides all staff with training.

Aberlour Sustain Perth is taking forward Aberlour's ground-breaking 'Edge of Care' service. Sustain is a model ofearly intervention and engagement which offers personalised, flexible, and responsive support to children, youngpeople and their families. The approach seeks to maximise the potential of family strengths and assets, gettingthem access to the required support when and where they need it, enabling children and young people to remainliving at home rather than moving into residential care.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for 2 Community Support Practitioners to join our team, working 37.5 hours per week. As this postincludes an unsocial hours allowance, you are required to be flexible with your approach, planning your owndiary and available to work weekends, early mornings, evenings, and public holidays to meet the needs of thefamilies you would support. It is also essential that you have access to a car due to the geographical layout ofPerth and Kinross.

We are looking for an individual who can integrate seamlessly into our existing team, working alongside it and reliefadults to support excellent service delivery. We are looking for a Residential Worker to work 37.5 hours perweek on a residential rota including early, late, waken nights, sleepovers and weekend shifts. You will have aknowledge and understanding of the importance of attachment, trauma and how this can impact on an individual'sdevelopment. At times our children express their distress through their behaviour and the role can beemotionally and physically challenging; we are therefore looking for someone who is resilient, understands thatbehaviour is a means of communication and is trauma responsive.

You will be skilled in building therapeutic relationships with the children, young people and young adults to enablethem to feel safe, loved and cared for.

You must have the ability to quickly build your relationships with the adults within the house. The nature of therole is such that you could be working to cover a shift or longer periods as required, including days, wakenednightshifts and sleepovers and you may also be supporting young people to attend school or participate in otherlearning programmes. You must therefore be able to quickly adapt to the working environment within eachhouse.

You will be comfortable with working within Aberlour's culture embracing respect, integrity, innovation and theability to challenge. Demonstration of these qualities will be particularly important in this role given thatyou will be dipping in and out of the different teams. You must be able to be an exceptional role model forother staff and the young person.
