Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire ICB are looking for an enthusiastic, committed, and experienced clinician for this role.

Ideally we are looking for someone who already has experience as a DCO or assistant DCO or who is working within provider services to deliver SEND.

The person will progress our processes and work with partners across the system.

The ICB is currently undergoing organisational change and restructure.

The post holder will lead on ensuring that the ICB successfully discharges all its responsibilities under the Children and Families Act and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Code of Practice This will include leading on the clinical, operational delivery and management of SEND for the ICB ensuring that our children and young people experience the best possible quality service, clinical outcomes and patient experience.

The post holder will work in partnership with our three local authorities and the wider integrated care system to develop and embed robust health pathways and contribute to the shaping of future services.


The post requires dynamic leadership, excellent communication skills and proven ability to work across the multidisciplinary spectrum at both operational and strategic levels in order to inform the system and strategic development of services.


The DCO will have specialist knowledge around children and young adults (0-25 years) with Learning and physical disabilities in all areas of health and education, including children who are vulnerable and at risk of being exploited.

The DCO will have the ability to work across the range of procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience.

The DCO will ensure that the outcomes for disabled children and young people and those with Special Educational Needs are maximised by working to improve, quality of life, school absences, mental and physical health problems, personal autonomy and involvement in further education and employment, independent living and community inclusion.
