We are looking for a proactive, forward-thinking Occupational Therapist with a passion for acute care to join our Cardiothoracic team in the Adult Critical Care clinical group at the OUH. The role involves providing therapy services in the ICU and wards in the Heart Centre during a crucial time as we have recently set up a dedicated Occupational Therapy service within the clinical group.

This position is one of two specialist OT roles in the Heart Centre, working closely with the Team Lead OT and Team Lead Physiotherapist to shape the direction of the OT service. We seek an innovative and self-motivated individual interested in service development and quality improvement.

The Therapy team in the Heart Centre focuses on providing services to patients undergoing surgical interventions and those with acute cardiac conditions.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Deliver high-quality Occupational Therapy services to surgical, medical, and critical care patients in the Heart Centre.
  • Collaborate with patients and their caregivers to assess, plan goals, and treat patients to enhance their independence and quality of life.
  • Supervise and mentor new Occupational Therapists, Support Workers, and OT students.
  • Engage in quality improvement, clinical audit, and research projects.
  • Participate in extended hours and weekend shifts to improve service access and delivery.
