Working within a world leading, technical engineering organisation, we currently have an excellent opportunity for a Head of UK & Global Combat Air Programmes to work on the development of an international combat air systems programme alongside international partners.


The Head of UK & Global Combat Air Programme will head up development programmes for the Future Combat Air System (FCAS), which is one of the largest, most exciting, and ambitious programmes within Defence - to design and deliver a Future Combat Air Programme for the RAF in record time.

The key cornerstone of FCAS is the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), which sees the UK working with our international partners Italy and Japan, to deliver a future combat air platform.

FCAS and GCAP presents an outstanding opportunity to influence the design of the system to consider the integration and employment of effects rather than just integrate effectors to an existing platform.


This is a senior role, and will see the Head of UK & Global Combat Air Programme have an influential role regarding the development of key international industrial partnerships within FCAS and GCAP.

The mission includes the development and sustainment of international involvement within the programme (UK / Italy / Japan) including influencing workshare (through delivery performance).


The Head of UK & Global Combat Air Programme will have a key part in supporting the unexplored business model of GCAP (EMS, networked sensors, GCAP system design, platform integration) with Italian and Japanese industrial partners.

Skills & experience requirements include:

  • A dynamic professional with experience of delivering within a sophisticated engineering environment.
  • Strong background in team leadership.
  • Good understanding of weapon products, underlying technology, and next generation opportunities.
  • Background in working within an international environment.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively with partner companies in a fastpaced programme environment.
  • Experience of management of communications and influencing across a map of national and Int'l partners.

  • Strong partner leadership skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively across Industry/Gov't as well as across cultures.
  • Experience of working on Future Systems programmes, defining, and delivering on complex strategies.
  • Competence to develop effective networks across the key partners of MoD and internally in both UK & Europe.
  • Proven track record working with the engineering community to develop and deliver.
  • Clear project management skills, reporting metrics and process across the directorate to support on time and on cost delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and corporate requirements and keep abreast of changes which may impact the business.
