This post is a specialist clinical post, working with other health professionals across Greenwich so that the Adults MSK Service may provide seamless musculoskeletal treatment plans across primary & secondary care.

The post holder will assess and treat patients referred with complaints of the lower limb within specialist community clinics.

The role will interface with physiotherapy colleagues in the management of patients.

Access to modalities such as shockwave therapy, diagnostic and interventional ultrasound as well as prescription and creation of in shoe orthotics will be central to this role.

To provide specialist MSK podiatry treatment to clients within the Greenwich community, through application of research & evidence-based care.


  • To provide a Podiatry within the Adults MSK service to clients within the Greenwich community, through application of a curative Philosophy of Care.
  • To work within primary, secondary and community care teams to provide a multidisciplinary approach to improvement of foot pathology.
This post does involve Saturday working as part of the team weekend rota. This is currently about 1 in 6 Saturdays for which time in lieu in the week is given

To provide specialist MSK podiatry treatment to clients within the Greenwich community, through application of research & evidence-based care.

This will be delivered in specialist clinics throughout the borough.

Assessment and treatment of patients referred for lower limb complaints, primarily of the foot and ankle.


The post holder will also be involved in student and junior staff education as part of the rotational scheme within the trust .

There is a requirement to contribute to the team training rota.

To undertake clerical duties as and when required which will include appointment making, ordering of drugs, dressings, and stationary items.

To maintain adequate levels of stock and pharmaceutical supplies in the clinics at all times.

  • To establish and maintain uptodate clinical records to a high standard, as well as other necessary records, i.e., To have responsibility for the Health and Safety and welfare of self and others in the working environment, to follow safe practices and to comply at all times with the Trusts Health and Safety policies and procedures.
To comply with all applicable policies of the Trust and department.

  • To keep up to date with developments in the Podiatry profession and meet all of the standards of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and the Health Professions Council.
  • To participate in multiprofessional clinical supervision in line with the Trusts Clinical Supervision Policy.
  • To participate in individual performance review and be committed to your own professional and personal development, as well as development of Podiatry Services.
To provide assessment and MSK podiatry treatment to clients in community clinics.

  • To provide advanced neurological & biomechanical assessment of foot function to isolate the cause of the pathology so that pathways of care can be followed by the team responsible for individual patient care.
  • To work within both the Adults MSK service within the 1st line management service as required.
  • Support from senior staff is provided.
  • To develop treatment plans and discharge plans through an agreed contract with each client, and to follow through the treatment plan with an end result of improved foot pathology & discharge where appropriate.
  • To be responsible for protection of health and wellbeing of all clients. Alert others to concerns where protection may be required for both children and vulnerable adults.
  • To appropriately refer clients to specialist teams within the department whenever needed (for nail surgery, electrosurgery, orthopaedic surgery biomechanical assessment etc.) and appropriately refer clients within primary care, Community or Acute for investigation, diagnosis, or treatment.
  • Dealing sensitively and appropriately with a client caseload with complex health needs, assisting individuals to manage their health needs effectively.
  • To work within primary, secondary and community care teams to provide a multidisciplinary approach to improvement of foot pathology.
  • To participate in clinical audit & research projects within the Trust as required by the Head of Integrated Community Teams.
  • To liaise with support staff and other professionals within the Trust and statutory bodies/allied agencies in order to promote effective, patientcentred interagency working.
  • To regularly provide written reports & feedback on patient progress to other health professionals.
  • To promote health education with individuals and groups wherever necessary and assist in the development of department literature.
  • To promote the positive Philosophy of Care of the service at all times, explaining this to clients, carers, relatives, and other Health Professionals.
  • To work with clients with learning disabilities, as well as clients with challenging & difficult behaviour.
