Job Title: Specialist Podiatrist

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Podiatrist to join our team at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Podiatrist, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our patients, particularly those with high-risk foot conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide assessment and treatment to patients in community and outreach clinics, hospitals, and patients' homes, including wound dressings, scalpel debridement, and care of foot problems.
  • Work as an autonomous practitioner, developing and agreeing treatment plans with patients, with support from senior staff.
  • Develop treatment plans and discharge plans through agreed contracts with patients, and follow through with treatment plans to achieve improved foot pathology and discharge where appropriate.
  • Assess patients at every visit and refer to specialist services as necessary.
  • Prescribe and manufacture orthoses, insoles, appliances, and shoe adaptations as required.
  • Participate in specialist teams and rotate through different teams to update clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Work in patient homes and other environments with exposure to bodily fluids.
  • Be responsible for protecting the health and wellbeing of patients, alerting others to concerns where protection may be required.
  • Refer patients to specialist teams and primary care services as necessary.
  • Deal sensitively and appropriately with patients with complex health needs, assisting them to manage their health effectively.
  • Work within primary, secondary, and community care teams to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to improving foot pathology.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in high-risk and wound care.
  • Minimum of 12 months as a Band 5 Podiatrist.
  • Prior Band 6 Podiatrist experience desirable.
  • Evidence of recent and ongoing CPD in relevant field.
