Anaesthetic and Intensive Care Trust Registrar

The daily commitment also includes pre-operative assessment and postoperative care,including the provision of acute pain relief. Description of Working Pattern The post complies with the hours limitations of the Agreement on Junior Doctors Hours. Thedepartment operates work patterns according to the expected workload.

Out of hours responsibilities involve covering either the obstetric or the intensive care units and giving supervision to the Core trainees in the operating department.


The Trust may require you to work at any of the hospital sites, although we avoid the need to work across two sites in 1 day wherever possible.

Supervision (Immediate, Local or Distant) is provided by the starred Anaesthetic Consultant of the Day for theatres and the Duty Consultant(s) for ICU on each site.

The department uses the CLWRota management system, and supervising/mentoring consultants are clearly indicated via this system during solo anaesthetic lists.
