Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and committed Healthcare Assistant and will welcome any forward thinking, caring individual who is committed to providing a high standard of patient care to our patients.

You must display excellent communication skills and be confident to deal with patients, families, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team.

You will be given the appropriate training to undertake specific Ophthalmic investigations under the instruction and supervision of clinicians and nurse in charge.

We employ more than 6,500 staffwho deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals,Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, healthcentres and in patients' homes. We also are incredibly proud to have almost 150 volunteers here at CHFT.

We provide a range of services including urgent and emergency care; medical; surgical; maternity; gynaecology; critical care; children's and young people's services; end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.

We provide community health services, including sexual health services in Calderdale from Calderdale Royal and local health centres. These include Todmorden Health Centre and Broad Street Plaza.

Job responsibilities

To support patient on their journey through Ophthalmology outpatients. At all times treat patients, carers and colleagues with dignity and respect, exercising discretion and behaving in a manner consistent with the CHFT standards of behaviour. To be able to work independently and part of a team under the supervision of a qualified member of the team. To maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work Work in a collaborative and co-operative manner with other members of the Ophthalmology team. To undertake training including essential safety training and adhere to principals taught. Undertake duties that you have received appropriate training for and have been deemed competent. To adhere to Trust policies and procedures To establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with multi-disciplinary team. Contribute to the development of clinical area, through contribution of new ideas to improve patient care/experience. Carry out all duties in a professional, compassionate and courteous manner. QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING

Essential

English & Math's GCSE grade 9-2 (A*-E) or equivalent

Desirable

Willingness to undertake any training or development relevant to the role NVQ level 2 in Health/Care OR Care Certificate issued by an Employer
