Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, United Kingdom Policy Expert Full time

Who are we:

We're Policy Expert, a Personal Lines insurance provider and we're on a mission to shake up the personal insurance industry.

We feel that insurers have under-served customers for too long with confusing policies, expensive renewals, and frustrating claims processes. It is time to put customers first

Since we formed in 2011, we've been using breakthrough thinking and proprietary tech to provide insurance that's clear, fair and great value.

And people like what we do. So much so that we now have well over one million customers, driven by our double-digit growth. We also take great pride in having been the UK's No.1-rated home insurance provider for 9 years.

We have big aspirations. Our 'North Star' is 'To be the most successful insurance disruptor people want to stay with for life'.

As we grow, we plan on continuing to challenge the norms of an insurance industry whose reputation for customer trust is low, where switching between providers is high and insurance cover is often seen as a costly 'grudge purchase'.

We aim to build longer and deeper relationships with our customers and to help them see insurance as being a help, not a hindrance.

The role and what you'll be doing:

As our compliance assistant you will be responsible for supporting the team in identifying processes and programs that require change to maintain compliant with laws and industry regulations.

You will assist with reviewing our current policies and procedures within our framework and monitoring operational delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting with the development of high impact, insightful MI, reports and presentations.
  • Assist with regulatory training where required.
  • Supporting the planned monitoring activity, ensuring it is carried out in accordance with the procedures and all issues identified are properly recorded and reported.
  • Work with the wider team to support Thematic reviews.
  • Provide additional support, such as analysing emerging regulation and development of impact assessments.
  • Support with reviewing policies and procedures and the production of learning materials to support the business.
  • Advocate for right outcomes for our customers and help to underpin the customer centric culture.
  • Keep up to date with regulatory developments.
  • Ensure the business can respond in a timely basis to requests for information from the FCA
  • Make all appropriate notifications to the FCA (relevant notifiable changes)
  • Comply at all times with the requirements of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, and the FCA Principles, Code of Practice for approved persons and rules
  • Compliance Monitoring

So then who are you?

You will advocate objectivity and strive for customer centric processes and policies, bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the compliance function.

The core attributes we would value in this role are:

  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and to compile detailed reports.
  • Proven knowledge of Insurance Industry regulation sand procedures
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
  • Sound judgement and decision making.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work individually and within a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication to ensure high quality delivery of regulatory updates.
