Tower Hamlets Mental Health Floating Support (THMHS) is a service that provides support for those who are experiencing low to medium needs mental health challenges.

We understand that everyone has their own journey and together we work alongside our service users (SU's) to help them recover and live the life you deserve.


About the role

  • Lead on the volunteer program within the 121 Tower Hamlets Mental Health Floating Support.
  • Recruit and manage all aspect of the volunteers, work alongside the team manager to devise the best use of volunteer time within the projects.
  • Deputise for the team manager and be the point of contact for all floating support workers should service manager be unavailable.
  • To work flexibly as part of the team to ensure service coverage and that contractual obligations are met across the services.

About you

  • Ability to lead and motivate volunteers to achieve service outcomes.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing, recruiting and retaining volunteers to support services for clients who have challenging mental health issues, people over 18 with long term conditions and people with physical disabilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and how to implement policy in practice.
  • Manage all elements of service performance related to the contract requirements including analysis of KPIs, outcomes and user experience measure.
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively to a wide range of audiences.
  • Numerate and literate with the ability to interrogate budgets, data and produce reports.
  • Able to confidently use a range of IT packages including MS Office and databases.
  • An understanding of coproduction and the ability to ensure that the service is delivered in partnership with service users.
  • Experience of recruitment, induction, supervision, appraisal, training, disciplinary action and grievance issues.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
  • The ability to develop, support and promote local service initiatives, which encourage volunteer recruitment/involvement.
