All-age Eating Disorders Carer's Lead

Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Are you an enthusiastic, motivated, and caring person who wants to make a positive difference to the lives of people with eating disorders? We are seeking to recruit someone who understands the importance of supporting parents and carers, and the impact that this vital role can have on the quality of life and recovery of patients with eating disorders.

This is a unique opportunity to join our nationally recognised and expanding Eating Disorder Service.

We aim to deliver high standards of care to adults, young people, their families and carers, with an emphasis on continuous improvement and patient participation.

The Buckinghamshire Eating Disorder Service supports people with eating disorders such as Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder in the community and through periods of transition, for example between the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Adult services, as well as between community and hospital teams.

You will be based in Buckinghamshire and be supported to develop expertise in working with people with eating disorders. The post sits across both CAMHS and Adult multidisciplinary teams.

In addition to direct clinical work (assessment and intervention), you will be able to contribute to service development and access opportunities such as training and supervision from leading experts.

In this role you will provide advice and support to parents and carers, offering specialist assessments and working with them toward positive outcomes.

The role includes leading our parent and carer group intervention, supporting clinicians with initial assessments of patients, and contributing to the development of treatment plans through active participation within multi disciplinary meetings.

Previous experience of these elements of the role is not essential as training can be provided.

  • Competitive pension scheme
  • Lease car scheme
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Mental Health First Aiders
  • Staff networking and support groups hosted by our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion team
This is an exciting time to join our team.

We have recently launched a the PEACE (Pathway for Eating Disorders and Autism developed from Clinical Experience) to better support children and young people with autism and eating disorders.

Within the Adult service, we are developing a new clinical model and implementing the FREED pathway (First Episode Rapid Early Intervention for Eating Disorders) for people aged 16-25 experiencing recent onset of an eating disorder.

In this post you will have the unique opportunity to work alongside experts in the field of eating disorders, thereby providing invaluable development opportunities.

We have strong links with mental health services across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire and can offer you access to a wide variety of training.

We invest highly in our staff and believe firmly in support staff to reach their career goals.
