About the role:


In this stand alone role, uou'll implement best-practice OD principles and practices that address strategic, financial and operational questions that our business encounters.

Your role will involve conducting in depth analysis of business needs, assessing current structures and envisioning future state organisational models to bolder efficiency, elevate performance and enhance overall employee engagement.

You will play an integral role in guiding and supporting the implementation of organisational changes.

And with your expert knowledge, tools and techniques, you'll be able to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of these changes, providing valuable insights to drive continuous improvements.

Key responsibilities:


In this dynamic position, you'll closely collaborate with Executive leadership Team, Directors and managers across Northern, ensuring seamless alignment between organisation design and our overarching business goals.

Here's a glimpse at what your day to day duties could look like:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the company's strategy, goals, and operational requirements, assessing the current organisational structure for areas of improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and key stakeholders, conducting interviews, workshops, and data analysis to align organisational design with business objectives and operational needs.
  • Lead the design of a standardised and consistent organisation design framework, methodology, and toolkit to be used across various initiatives, providing upskilling to relevant teams.
  • Advise on best practice datadriven organisation effectiveness measures to support organisation design initiatives.
  • Establish metrics and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness of organisational design changes, monitoring KPIs and conducting postimplementation reviews.
  • Provide technical OD support, delivering efficiency and performance improvements while ensuring alignment with the business's current and future requirements.

We're also looking for the following:

Business Knowledge

  • Extensive experience in largescale organisational design, preferably in a consulting or inhouse OD role.
  • Strong understanding and experience of bestpractice organisation design principles and associated tools and techniques
  • Proficiency in change management principles and practices
  • Ability to develop strategic design principles to inform organisation design choices.
  • Experience in the rail industry would be an advantage.

Desirable Functional / Technical Skills

  • Project Managements skills and/or qualifications
  • Familiarity with technology and tools used for organisational design and data analytics eg Tableau/Power BI
