Infant Mental Health Practitioner

To work closely with other members of the team, to support the attachment and bonding process through pregnancy; deliver evidence-based interventions that promote attuned parent infant relationships and help parents/carers to see things from their babys perspective; and promote healthy infant development by providing information and support to parents/carers to feel confident about talking, playing and interacting with their baby.

To work in partnership with families in the delivery of plans for intervention and agreed outcomes within the family home and clinical settings.

To operate from an inclusive value base, which recognises and respects diversity.

Through close management and supervision, to escalate cases where the level of need becomes beyond scope or more severe, ensuring adherence to SCHFT safeguarding policy and procedure.

Attend multi-disciplinary meetings with the PAIRS team where referrals will be allocated to the appropriate practitioner.

Keep coherent records of all activity in line with service protocols and use these records and outcome data to inform decision making.

Complete all requirements relating to data collection. Work collaboratively, involving a range of relevant others when indicated.

Work in collaboration with families and communities to enhance and widen access.

Training and Supervision Prepare and present case load information to supervisors within the PAIRS service on an agreed and scheduled basis, with the aim of maintaining safe practice and good governance, ensuring a high standard of service delivery.

Participate in reflective supervision and through discussion and agreement make any required changes to the agreed plan of care. Attend safeguarding supervision in line with service standards.

Alongside other members of the team, provide training and support as appropriate to other professionals.

Professional Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating bodies and keep up to date on new recommendations / guidelines set by the relevant departments.

Ensure that confidentiality is protected at all times.

Ensure clear objectives are identified, discussed, and reviewed on a regular basis with clinical supervisor and senior colleagues as part of continuing professional development.


Keep all records up to date in relation to CPD and ensure personal development plans maintain up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery model developments.

Attend relevant training in line with identified professional objectives. General Contribute to the development of best practice within the service. Ensure a comprehensive understanding of the relevant safeguarding legislation, guidance and best practice.
