As Clinical Lead - Harm Free Care the main purpose of the job is to lead and embed a harm free care process within the trust.

This will involve developing and launching a Harm Free Care review process and Quality Improvement commitment, contributing to the trust safety improvement plan and quality improvement strategy.


You will be responsible for reviewing the care received by patients who wait for long periods of time within the Emergency department to identify if any harm has been caused and learn from incidents and embedding learning across the organisation.


You will be engaging with key stakeholders in the delivery of these project objectives through the management of change and transformation to secure optimal service outcomes.


To develop and lead a Harm Free Care review process and Quality Improvement Commitment in line with Trust Priorities, ensuring a collaborative approach and supporting each division to lead quality improvement within their area.


To be highly visible and proactively oversee the specialist Harm Free Care work streams including the Emergency Department long waits, Falls, Sepsis, Deteriorating patients, HAPU, Nutrition, VTE and medicine safety.

To support the Support Head of Patient safety to co-chair patient safety improvement Committees.


To ensure that the annual audit schedule for each of the Harm Free Care areas is appropriate to confirm necessary compliance, monitor progress against performance indicators or any new areas of practice, ensuring that performance indicators and level of performance throughout the Trust is shared and communicated taking action where required to address variance from standard/milestone.


To work in partnership with peers and colleagues in the Safety and Quality Support team so that seamless links across the functions are established to improve and maintain quality and safety of patient care.
