Breeze On Tour Youth Event Worker Casual

We are looking for people with a variety of skills to work with children and young people, to help deliver a programme of events during the Breeze in the Park summer series, Breeze Healthy Holiday Summer Camps and other initiatives delivered by the Breeze team and the wider Arts Events and Venues section.

The skills below are in demand, you don't need to have all of these skills and experience but you will need to have some of them

  • Experience of arts & crafts delivery
  • Experience of working in a childcare/school setting
  • Experience in being a team leader for a project or series of events in a holiday camp / childcare setting
  • Experience of driving large vans up to 3.5tonne for example long wheel based/Luton Vans
  • Theatre performance background
  • Events work with experience or qualifications around delivering events
  • Practical/hands on with experience of set up, and derig of an outdoor event
Hours of work may vary from day to day, project to project.

There are several staff roles available within the categories below;

Event Work - arts & crafts delivery, staffing inflatable equipment, working with families and young people

Camp Team Leader - on the day management of healthy holiday camps, to include staff members and children attending. First point of contact for parents/carers, dealing with any issues arising around safeguarding/H&S

Job purpose
To assist in the delivery of events and activities as directed by the Breeze Team and The Arts and Events Team and other nominated staff from the Dept of City Development

Responsibilities

  • To assist in the delivery of young people's events and activities
  • To work with and build relationships with young people and encourage them to participate in arts, sports and cultural activities
  • To facilitate young people's informal learning, and their personal and social development.
  • To work as part of a team
  • To report to and liaise with the Breeze Team and other nominated staff.
  • To assist with administrative tasks to support programme delivery e.g. sessional registers, undertaking consultations with the public, dealing with visitor queries, assisting with Breeze Pass queries etc
  • To assist with the physical build of infrastructure at the events
  • To supervise young people's safe use of equipment and engagement with activities
  • To carry out the above duties in compliance with Council policies including Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding, Health and safety and where appropriate, National Governing Body Codes of Conduct

Skills

  • Ability to establish relationships and maintain dialogue with young people
  • Ability to identify and respond to the needs of young people.
  • Ability to deal appropriately with challenging behaviour
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people individually and in groups and at all appropriate levels
  • Ability to inspire and motivate young people to participate in arts, sports, and cultural activities
  • Ability to set up and take down areas and equipment to deliver young people's activities and events

Knowledge / Qualifications

  • Understanding of a range of differing approaches to Youth provision.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting young people.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues in relation to young people
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection
  • Knowledge of Risk assessments and health and safety guidelines
  • First Aid qualification
  • A current National governing body coaching or leadership award
  • Level 1 or 2 qualification in working with young people
  • Relevant qualifications in the arts

Experience

  • Experience of working with young people either in a school or out of school setting
  • Experience of working within a team setting
  • Experience of supervising people in a voluntary or paid position
  • Experience of working in a holiday activity type programme
  • Experience of running craft/sports workshops
