Midwife - Continuity Team

Preston, Lancashire, United Kingdom Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

It's an exciting year for us; we continue to embrace transformation and the offer of continuity of carer to women and families choosing care at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

The midwives in the continuity teams are dedicated to providing women with positive experiences of maternity care in a variety of care settings.

We are looking for a highly motivated midwife with at least 12 months experience to join the fantastic midwives in our teams.

Are you ready for the satisfaction of working in a continuity team, working as an autonomous practitioner in control of your day to day work, building positive relationships with the families you are caring for, and being part of a small supportive team of experienced midwives?

.....Could this be the change you are looking for?

As a maternity service we are leading the way with quality improvement transformation - there is so much to tell you about, we don't even know where to start

We have three continuity teams providing care to different groups of women with plans to develop this so that it is the default service provision in 2023.

We have a freestanding and alongside birth centre, a level 3 neonatal unit and a busy obstetric unit.

You will be the named midwife and first point of contact to a specified caseload of women and their families throughout the pregnancy, birth and postnatal period.

You will work with the team to ensure 24/7 birth provision and manage your own diary.

This will enable you to meet the needs of your caseload whilst creating a work life balance that best suits your individual lifestyle.

We're looking for people as passionate as we are about providing the best service possible to the women in our care.

It goes without saying that your attention to detail, supportiveness & empathy will be what sets you apart from the rest.

You will inspire confidence and promote our services to the women and families that you are supporting.

It is paramount that you are a team player and have excellent communication skills, someone who is great at listening to women and their families supporting them to achieve a high quality, positive and safe experience through the development of individualised personalised care and support plans.

You will also work alongside our specialist teams who love helping our team members flourish, including our enhanced support midwifery team, antenatal screening team, research and development team, rainbow team, and our digital team.

You'll help support and guide our students and maternity support workers too.

We have 9000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients.

Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.

Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.

You'll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you'd never have done.

You'll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.

You'll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things.

Everything we do centres around patient care and enhancing their experience which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.

If this is not enoughwe have a BIG PLAN to:

  • consistently deliver excellent care
- create a great place to work
- deliver value for money
- ensure we are fit for the future

  • Develop our staff to be the best they can be

We hope you can you see yourself being part of this dynamic team of midwives who really care about your career development, your ideas and your contribution to make our service the best it can be.

Duties to include, but not be limited to:

  • As the named midwife, be accountable and responsible for clinical decision making.
