Children's Residential Home

Salary - £9.98 - £10.42 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications (regular sleep in duties required, paid at an additional £56.92 per night)

Hours - as and when required (evenings and weekends)

Location - March, Cambridgeshire

About Break:

Nobody chooses the family or circumstances they are born into.

At Break we firmly believe that with the right care, there is no limit to what can be achieved and supporting the most vulnerable young people to experience fulfillment and happiness can be a profoundly rewarding experience.

Why Break?

At Break we invest in the future of our staff just as we do for the young people in our services.

We strive to provide the highest quality of care, so whether you're just starting your career in children's social care or are already qualified, you'll be supported, recognised and rewarded for your essential part in our vital work.

About the role:

As a Break Relief Support Worker you'll be working hands-on with the young people living in the children's home.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wishing to explore a career working with children.

You will be given full training and support to develop your knowledge, and will learn about child development, the effect of trauma, therapeutic support, and how to effectively support someone who is experiencing challenges as a result of their past experiences.

A typical day might see you supporting a young person with their school work and taking time to get to know them while you share dinner together, or meeting with other professionals involved in the young person's care.

You'll be responsible for their safety and any decisions made about the day-to-day running of the home, supported by senior transition workers, team leaders and the home's management team.

To be successful in the role you'll be patient, a good team player, and a problem solver.

The support work will include shift work and some weekend working and will include paid sleep-in shifts.

In your role, you'll have access to the following benefits:

  • Free, career-enhancing qualifications
  • A benefits platform enabling you to access discounts across a range of shops, venues and services.
  • A free counselling service to all our employees.
  • The opportunity to influence Break's strategy and direction through the Staff Consultation Forum.
  • Free flu jabs.

Full details of the role, including a job description and person specification can be found within the 'documents' section at the top of this page.

Closing Date:

Break operate services for vulnerable children and families and we need to ensure that we take steps to protect both them and our staff teams from the transmission of the Covid 19 virus. It is therefore a requirement for all staff unless they provide evidence of an appropriate medical exemption to be able to meet at least two of the following three requirements 1) Maintain a full vaccination status (including any recommend booster injections) 2) Undertake LFT / PCR or other approved Covid tests as required 3) Wear PPE including e.g. face masks when requested.

  • To comply with the Immigration Asylum & Nationality Act 2006 and additional amendments, and UK Visa's and Immigration (UKVI) requirements, all prospective employees will be asked to supply evidence of eligibility to work in the UK. We will ask to see and take a copy of an appropriate official document as set out in the UKVI guidelines. _
_Do not send anything now, further information will be sent to you should you be invited to interview._
