Job Purpose

  • To manage all aspects of education and learning at Greenbank College, ensuring the delivery of outstanding teaching, learning and assessment to all students that meets the requirements of the Education Inspection Framework and is also fully compliant with funding rules.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver an annual programme of learning that is:
    • ambitious for all the students at the College and that supports excellent levels of achievement and progression;
    • compliant with and meets, or exceeds, the targets of any contract with the funding agencies or local authorities
  • Set targets, monitor progress and assess the impact of the educational programmes; ensuring full staff compliance and performance
  • Lead and manage the College Senior Management Team by motivating, supporting, challenging and developing staff to secure continual improvement
  • Ensure that the College curriculum intent meets the skills needs outlined by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Liverpool City Council and other partners
  • Represent the College at external events and meetings
  • Ensure that learning programmes meet the requirements set out by awarding bodies
  • Develop an effective programme of staff development based on appraisals and learning visits, where appropriate. This will further improve teaching, learning and assessment by ensuring staff have excellent pedagogical practice and current industry sector specific skills
  • Sets the framework for the academic year, including a timetable for quality development and professional development
  • Work with the Greenbank Project finance team to ensure that the planned curriculum can be delivered within budget
  • Ensure all learning provision meets the requirements of the Education Inspection Framework
  • Lead on compiling the annual College Self-Assessment Review and implementing the Quality Improvement Plan
  • Act as the nominee for Ofsted inspections
  • Provide regular reports to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Trustees
  • Lead and develop the learner voice and other consultation processes with College staff and students
  • Ensure that the College has appropriate and effective marketing and recruitment strategies to drive the growth in student numbers
  • Ensure the College has appropriate strategies and policies in place to address learner behaviours, punctuality, attendance and progress
  • Support the preparation and application of external funding bids in line with The Greenbank Project strategic objectives
  • On occasion, deputise for The Greenbank Project Chief Executive
