Midlothian Sure Start is a dynamic, award winning third sector organisation. It offers a quality support service tofamilies with children up to age 12 across Midlothian. Midlothian Sure Start has been in existence since 2001and employs over 70 members of staff providing a service in Family Learning centres and in the community. Ourethos is to provide a holistic, confidential community based service where families are at the heart of what wedo.

We are currently recruiting a part-time Development Officer within our Perinatal team, to support the delivery of ourOpen Kindergarten and HENRY projects and other activities across Midlothian, providing supportive opportunitiesfor both parents/carers and children. This will involve coordinating, reporting on, supporting and assisting inthe day-to-day delivery of family learning activities across the centre.

Experience supporting families, working with parents and promoting services within the local community is essential,as is experience of delivering groups e.g. PICL, Peep, AGS or equivalent however full training and inductionwill be provided.

About the role

We want to creative positive change in the health system to achieve the change children and young people with canceracross the UK, and their families, need. This means amplifying the voices of young cancer patients anddelivering evidence-based campaigns that make change happen.

This Policy and Public Affairs Officer role is responsible for supporting the Policy, Influencing and Voice Team withpolicy and public affairs expertise to deliver the key components of our influencing work in Scotland, Wales andNorthern Ireland. You will help us influence the system for children and young people with cancer and theirfamilies, so we can change experiences of having cancer and ensure children and young people's voices areheard.

This includes:

  • monitoring the policy and influencing landscape in each of the devolved nations
  • developing policybriefings, position statements, consultation responses and reviewing evidence
  • building and maintainingexcellent working relationships with elected representatives, officials, external partners and your colleaguestoo
  • delivering our public affairs work in the devolved nations
  • supporting our excitingcampaigning activities, tailoring to each nation

Young Lives vs Cancer is open to and in support of flexible working. Your flexibility requirements and that of therole will be discussed at interview stage with you.

This role is home-based and can be based anywhere in the UK, but the successful candidate will ideally be based ineither Wales, Northern Ireland or Scotland, and will require occasional visits to Young Lives vs Cancerworkplaces.

This role is subject to an Basic level Criminal Record Check. In the event of a successful application a Disclosureand Barring Services report will be sought.

  • Have experience working in a policy or public affairs environment, ideally in Scotland, Wales or NorthernIreland
  • Have experience or knowledge of the policy, public affairs and/or political processes and how touse them in your work
  • Have effective influencing and relationship building skills
  • Arecomfortable and confident working in a diverse and changing external environment across threenations
  • Are solutions-focused, have attention to detail, and able to analyse complexinformation

Home-Start Edinburgh is a volunteer-led charity with over 35 years' experience working in local communities,supporting families with a child under 5 in the home. We are currently recruiting a part-time CommunityEngagement Co-ordinator to join our team.

This role will be responsible for overseeing events for families and volunteers, and community events for the purposeof raising Home-Start Edinburgh's profile to recruit volunteers, raise our community profile and supportfundraising activity.

Options Fife Respite and Outreach provides a range of flexible support through outreach and overnight short breaks atweekends, evenings and school holidays to children and young people with complex learning disabilities andautism. We are looking to recruit a Young People's Worker Nights, working four nights on (10 hours per night) every secondweek. You will play a fundamental role in ensuring that the young people you work with have the best possibleexperience in working towards their objectives in line with their care plan, supporting children to progresswithin their individual outcomes. Whilst not without its challenges and demands, this is a highly rewardingrole, where the work we do has a demonstrable impact on each young person's progress. Using a person-centredapproach, you will provide enabling support ensuring the highest level of physical, personal, and emotionalcare. We support young people who have epilepsy, need personal care and need gastrostomy feeding. Aberlour, inconjunction with NHS, provides all staff with training.

It is desired butnot essential that candidates hold a relevant qualification at an SCQF level 7 or above.
