Job Overview

An exciting opportunity is available for a full-time Genetic Technologist to join the team at Oxford Genetics Laboratories (OGL), a key part of the Central & South Genomic Laboratory Hub. The OGL operates at both the John Radcliffe and Churchill hospitals, offering a dynamic work environment.

The Genetic Technologist will conduct various genetic tests following Standard Operating Procedures. Responsibilities include managing workflow, providing guidance to junior staff, and handling test data analysis and reporting. Strong communication, organization, and laboratory skills are essential for this role.

Applicants must have practical experience in a UKAS accredited Genetics Laboratory, particularly in post-extraction molecular genetic techniques such as PCR setup, Sanger sequencing, NGS, MLPA, and Pyrosequencing. Training will be provided to familiarize with local procedures.

The position involves technical, analytical, and administrative tasks to support clinical scientists. Genetic Technologists process pathological specimens, use advanced technologies and software for data analysis, and communicate technical information effectively. Training and participation in departmental activities are key aspects of the role.
