Job overview:

We have a secondment opportunity within the Point of Care Testing Service.


The Point of Care Testing Technical lead will be responsible for coordinating and delivering a high quality PoCT service across the NCA and the integrated community services.

Your Base site will be Oldham.

Although you will be expected to work at and across all NCA sites and WWL NHS Trust, your main focus during the secondment period will be to support services at the North East Sector.

To be responsible for the staff in the PoCT team.

To provide technical expertise to the PoCT team.

Main duties of the job:

To be responsible for the training of staff in the use of PoCT equipment.

To provide technical expertise to the PoCT team.

To communicate with staff on the wards to comply with quality standards of the Point of Care testing equipment.

To develop excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders,

To maintain the Quality Management System for PoCT

To lead in the implementation of new equipment across the Trust (and wider community if applicable).

To support and deputise for the NCA PoCT Manager

  • HCPC registration plus relevant MSc, or Post Grad, or Level 7, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of supervising staff and/or projects

  • Worked within Pathology for at least 3 years
  • Flexibility for hours and site
  • Good understanding of confidentiality
