We now seek an experienced Programme Leader to assist the Academic Director in all aspects of the delivery of our Business and Hospitality programmes as a key member of the UEL International Study Centre Team.
The ProgrammeLeader will promote best practicesin all aspects of his/her work, and be sympathetic to our students; s/he will take decisions and accept responsibility.
S/he will have a willingness to learn and adapt, and most importantly have a positive attitude which will underpin thedelivery and further growth of our programmes atour centreat the University of East London.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a personal tutor to an assigned group of students monitoring, in coordination with Student Services, their attendance and engagement levels.
- Act as a student success lecturer and provide onetoone support to students during the term time, ahead of first submissions and during the resubmission period.
- Be the module leader for a range of modules
This includes:
- Design and development of teaching schedule and assessment design
- Design and development of teaching material and continuous revision and update to the same to ensure material is current and relevant.
- Coordination with teaching team around marking standards and feedback expectations.
- Engage with quality assurance through liaison with Academic Director on academic standards and expectations and continuous review of academic processes and strategies.
- Report to the Academic Director on students' level of engagement and achievement and produce for each semester a module development plan to be discussed and actioned.
Staff Leadership and Management
- Manage effectively the fulltime and parttime teaching team that contributes to the delivery and assessment of business and hospitality modules.
- Ensure the continuity of teaching and academic standards are met through rigorous staff development initiatives in liaison with the Academic Director.
- Continuous monitoring of the quality of teaching practices in the team and student engagement levels.
- Contribution to the recruitment process for fulltime and parttime academics.
- Promote a collaborative working environment to maintain and enhance the quality of the student learning experience and the overall learning and teaching environment.
- Regularly review own practice, set personal targets and take responsibility for own personal development.
Key Relationships
- Report to the Academic Director on all aspects of the role, and in particular in the ongoing growth and development of current and future UEL ISC courses, and communicate extensively with other key academic colleagues in both UEL and other Malvern International learning environments to share and develop best practice.
Student Leadership and Pastoral Care
- Ensuring the academic team provides the highest level of pastoral care, including acting as personal tutor to a diverse range of students.
- Working with the Student Services team to support and promote the highest standards of welfare for students, with safeguarding being central to the team's approach.
