The purpose of this role is to provide an efficient and high standard of clerical service within Maternity; to ensure that a welcoming and professional service is provided to patients; to ensure the smooth running of admin & clerical processes within the Maternity service.

This role is to provide admin support for multiple community midwifery teams based in & around Oxford. The post holder will based at our community midwifery office at Flo's Place in Cowley, Oxford.


Patient administration underpins the patient journey and supports clinical teams in delivering high quality patient care and can make a real difference to the patient experience.

Effective and efficient patient administration supports management through ensuring a high standard of data quality and by making the best use of capacity and resources.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and well-presented individual to join the admin team with in Maternity.

The purpose of the role is to provide a professional, efficient and friendly service ensuring that all aspects of administration with in Maternity are performed to the highest standard.


A key element of the role is the ability to use judgement and initiative to deal with the day to day patient queries/issues raised, liaising and communicating with the wider Maternity admin & clinical teams as needed.


You will need to have a flexible approach to work, be highly organised, enjoy working individually as well as part of a larger team and have good keyboarding skills.

Knowledge of EPR is desirable but not essential as training will be given. With this role you will become part of the wider administrative team within Maternity with numerous opportunities for progression.


The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

  • Booking, rescheduling & cancelling appointments using the EPR system
  • Maintaining databases
  • Answering phone calls, taking messages accurately & dealing with them in a timely fashion
  • Providing a compassionate service to our patients
  • Maintaining patient records
  • Using ScanIt to move records, letters etc in to a digital format
  • Liaising with clinical staff
  • Reporting IT issues
  • Reporting issues with equipment & estates
  • Reception duties
  • Learning & understanding patient pathways
