We are looking for an engineer to coordinate the routine maintenance at all facilities and minimise equipment downtime.

What you'll be doing...

  • Ensure that the pools are effectively maintained through completing backwashes to swimming pool filters in addition to carry out pool tests and balanced water tests, including the recalibrating of the pool dosing systems and managing the pool water micro biological/bacterial tests as scheduled.
  • Ensuring proficiencies are maximised to ensure savings from unnecessary expenditure of current equipment/plant whilst maintaining high standards of safety.
  • Together with the Leisure Management team arrange for unplanned and emergency maintenance to be carried out as and when required. This may involve a requirement to work outside of normal office hours, often at short notice
  • Undertake or arrange for a wide range of electrical tasks including Portable Appliance Testing.
  • Manage the maintenance of external grounds, ensuring that acceptable standards of artificial surfaces are met.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out inspections. Complete repairs if training and experience enables or arrange with the Management team for work to be undertaken by an external contractor and monitor the effectiveness of the repairs.
  • Work with the centres to arrange, undertake and deliver the centres planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules.
  • Be on out of hours call-out to assist within the centres for reactive repairs.

    You must have...
    • ISRM Pool Plant Operators Qualification
    • City and Guilds 236 parts 1 & 2, NVQ level 3 or equivalent formal qualification
    • 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations qualification
    • Working at heights o Legionella Awareness o First Aid at Work
    • Experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems and mechanical plant
    • Demonstrable knowledge of building operation and maintenance, including mechanical and electrical engineering, grounds maintenance and energy conservation
    • Demonstrates good communication, diplomacy, teamwork and customer service skills
    • Demonstrates good IT skills
    • Demonstrable evidence of dealing with and managing contractors.
    • Capability to self-motivate, with strong time management and prioritisation skills
      • Capability to make front line decision in response to day to day issues that arise
    • Demonstrable capability to analyse and solve problems ranging from basic to complex, exercising judgement when necessary
    • Able to lift and move equipment, work at heights, and work in confined spaces
    • 16-30% of this role's time will be spend on external communication
