Pastoral Assistant
As well as joining a very successful school, you will also become part of a fantastic department.

You will be working alongside a very supportive team who work very hard to ensure that each and every student is encouraged to reach their individual potential.

You will be required to support the Heads of House within the academy, students who are on report, and investigate and report any behavioural incidents.

You will also be required to liaise with parents/carers on a regular basis.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Greet pupils on arrival to school, ensuring they are in correct uniform and provide uniform where necessary
  • Monitor the corridor, particularly at break times and transitions, to maintain a calm and orderly environment
  • Support academy leaders to maintain a safe and orderly environment that supports learning by being visible and challenging negative behaviours
  • Effectively monitor the Senior Teacher Allocation Rota to support teachers and pupils, in ensuring a timely response to any behaviour issues during the day
  • Administrate late and prep detentions where pupils have failed to meet the learning expectations due to a lack of effort, focus or inappropriate behaviour
  • You will be required to record pupils who fail to attend these sessions and also communicate to parents, where their child will be held back after school hours.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and to follow the relevant policies and procedures.
  • Support students in lesson when necessary.
  • At the direction of academy leaders carry out factfinding investigations with pupils.
  • Inform form tutors and Heads of House of serious incidents, persistent lateness or failure to attend a detention.
  • Monitor pupils who are on report and at risk of exclusion.
  • When necessary contact parents and attend parental meetings to discuss pastoral matters.
  • Attend all training identified as being appropriate to the post by the Academy.
  • Attend team and staff meetings.
