Join our team as a Payroll Assistant and play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of Payrolls and Pension administration for the Council. Working closely with the Payroll Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of service quality.

Key Tasks
  • When covering for the Payroll Supervisor, ensure all procedures are followed according to agreed schedules and Council Policies.
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Supervisor to process Payroll functions, expenses, and BACS in compliance with PAYE and Superannuation Scheme.
  • Handle timesheet costs for payroll processing accurately.
  • Maintain precise payroll records for new and existing employees.
  • Process Terms and Conditions of Service for employees and Elected Officers.
  • Manage payments for Attendance and Travelling Allowance to PCSP Members and Councillors.
  • Handle Real Time Information for HMRC and Pension returns for NILGSOC.
  • Calculate statutory payments like Holiday Pay and redundant payments.
  • Create reports on payroll system for claims and drawdown for funded posts.
  • Implement job evaluations and manage annual pay awards.
  • Assist in preparing management accounts and other information as needed.

Requirements: Grade C or above in at least 4 GCSEs, including English Language and a numerate subject. Previous experience of computerised payroll processing is essential.
