About The Role:

Bell is recruiting two temporary Residential Assistants to work this summer.

These are summer residential
roles based at our Cambridge residences working from 6 July - 17 August for one role and 6 July - 24 August for the other role.

These roles involve providing care and support to students accommodated in our summer residential sites in Cambridge, with specific responsibility for the security and safeguarding of students aged 16 and 17 during the day.


You will assist with weekend arrivals and departures, induction to the buildings, student queries, ensuring under 18's adhere to guidelines and curfew, together with other general duties as required.

Post holders will work closely with the Residential Supervisor and another Residential Assistants. The residential team will liaise with Bell Cambridge team (mainly the Student Services Manager and Accommodation Officer).

  • The posts are ideal summer jobs for university students. Most of the work takes place at weekends and in the evenings, leaving you free to seek other parttime employment in the daytime Monday
  • Friday to maximise your summer earning potential, or use the day times to study.
    These are residential (live in) posts and therefore include free accommodation. Accommodation will either be selfcatering or room + half board.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure the smooth operation of student arrivals and departures, in liaison with the Accommodation Officer and Student Services Manager
  • Induct students to the residence, including fire procedures
  • Ensure rules are adhered to and student discipline is maintained
  • Ensure welfare, safety and security of students
  • Ensure students aged 16 and 17 follow Under 18s guidelines and safeguarding procedures, including adhering to a 23:00 curfew
  • Deal with students' queries and provide information
  • Be on call and available for emergency contact in case of incident
  • Report incidents or concerns immediately
  • Assist in the event of any fire or other emergency evacuation
  • Adhere to all statutory regulations and to Bell policies and procedures
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as required
