Waste Minimisation and General Duties

Here at UPP we have an opportunity for a Waste Minimisation and General Duties to work as part of our team to provide general waste and recycling duties and to also assist with the FM team with general duties and statutory testing.

This is a permanent part
- time position working 25 hours per week from 9am-2pm Monday to Friday. The salary is £ per annum.

Role responsibilities as a Waste Minimisation and General Duties

  • Manhandling and transporting residential and conference refuse and recycling waste from residential buildings to bin stores.
  • Assisting with implementing the UPP waste and recycling management plan, looking to minimize waste contamination wherever possible.
  • To work alongside the waste collection contractor and feedback to the Maintenance Manager reports regarding the contamination and misuse of the refuse bins.
  • Routinely inspect and carry out cleaning of building's frontage and residential bin stores.
  • Maintain the required standard in appearance of all areas surrounding the residences. Removing litter and debris from the campus both from hard and soft landscapes (i.e. roads, paths, borders, grass etc.) including leaves, rubbish, chewing gum, dirt and moss.
  • Carry out daily maintenance checks on the allocated vehicle and reporting any defects to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Driving and operating the vehicle safely round the required routes and to the required discharge points adhering at all times to the Bay Campus transport and traffic regulations.
  • Assist the FM team with general duties as and when required.
  • Carry out statutory testing as detailed by the Maintenance Manager / Supervisor.
  • Undertake training as required, at site and away from site when required.
  • Be prepared to work as and when the need arises, especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends.
  • To act in accordance with all Health & Safety policies and practices
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the management team as commensurate with the post.

You will also be prepared to work (with notice) additional hours when the needed, especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends.
