An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine on E floor at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. The Royal Hallamshire Hospital has a high-level isolation unit (HLIU) which is used for the treatment of contact high consequence infectious diseases (HCID) such as Ebola. As a trust that is dedicated to protecting the community and its most valuable commodity, its Staff, we are building on our established team of experts. We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to join our team in the role of HCID Clinical Educator.

You will be a highly skilled communicator with the ability to use your effective verbal, written and IT skills to provide a high educational achievement within the care group and wider trust. Training and development are a high priority in this care group and including your own personal and professional development will be actively supported by the senior team in the care group. We are keen that the successful candidate develops and refreshes our training packages to ensure that our staff are trained to the highest standards.

Main duties of the job

To identify and promote evidence-based practice in preparedness to respond to any High Consequence Infective Disease (HCID) within the Infectious Diseases department and wider organisation, including the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Units, through the implementation and facilitation of clinically based teaching / education/ simulation, to ensure that staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles competently.

Lead on orientation and competency programmes, a development programme for new nurses, incorporating theoretical teaching, clinical skills assessment & formulation of personal development plans.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 12 months due to the post being externally funded. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the ongoing source of the external funding and the requirement for the post to be maintained.

RN Level one NMC registered To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998. Continuous professional development Master's degree or working towards

Extensive post registration experience Experience of delivering teaching sessions and presentations Working knowledge of Mandatory Training/role specific HCID training requirements Experience of producing educational databases using a variety of models. Academic courses relevant to role Ability to lead, motivate and develop a professional team Evidence of continuous professional development

Desirable criteria

Moving & Handling Key trainer training. Organisational Mandatory Training Policy and Strategy
