The Role:
To work in the decontamination area to decontaminate endoscopy equipment following Standard Operating Procedures
Take responsibility for the care, maintenance and record keeping of endoscopes and all decontamination equipment.
Be responsible for reporting any breaches in the decontamination process to the senior nurse
You'll have the following qualification/experience:
- Decontaminate and prepare all flexible endoscopes in a timely manner to ensure the endoscopy lists run smoothly.
- Carry out daily and weekly maintenance/testing on all decontamination equipment as per Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure that equipment is maintained in line with manufacturer's recommendations.
- Arrange for loan equipment when endoscopes require maintenance or repair.
- Train new members of staff in all decontamination processes.
- Ensure chemical spill kit is in date and readily accessible to the Unit
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, self and others
- Know own limitations and report any lack of knowledge/ training to the Registered Nurse
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team recognising the contribution of all team members in meeting patient's needs
