An exciting opportunity has arisen at NHNN, Queen Square (UCLH Trust) We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Complex Spine Clinical Nurse Specialist Nurse to join our team and deliver great care to our patients. The NHNN is an internationally renowned hospital for clinical practice and world-class clinical research in neurosciences. It is also closely associated with the Institute of Neurology (ION). Together, NHNN and ION are regarded as the premier neurosciences centre in the UK. In addition to Neurology and Neurosurgery, the NHNN provides comprehensive services in Neuro-rehabilitation, Neuro-Critical Care and Neuro-Psychiatry. The NHNN receives secondary, tertiary and quaternary referrals from across the UK and internationally. Our Complex Spine service provides input across the disease trajectory from education at onset, pre and post operatively and through complexities. The safe running of this service requires an expert multidisciplinary team where the different disciplines work both autonomously and collaboratively within a detailed clinical governance framework. The team continually develops and reviews the service in line with evolving research and practice. Main duties of the job The successful applicant must be passionate about this patient group, highly motivated and enthusiastic about teaching all grades of junior staff within these wards. The candidate must be an outstanding communicator, can demonstrate first-rate organisational and multitasking skills and the ability to prioritise effectively and efficiently in a busy and fast paced work environment. The successful applicant will demonstrate an ability to support, train, develop and educate others work well autonomously and as a team member in a team. The successful individual will have a pivotal role in delivering Trust Objectives as well as objectives for this service ensuring that the care delivered reflects the Trust Vision and Values. - The Hospital for Tropical Diseases
- University College Hospital at Westmoreland Street
- Registered Nurse Part 1, 2 or relevant section of the register
- Teaching/Assessment programme
- Relevant post-registration programme
- Working towards or having completed the neuro-course (or equivalent)
- Demonstrate relevant experience in same specialty at Band 5 or above (SO)*
- Completed/completing first degree (SO/FO)*
- Demonstrates evidence of ability to educate others
- Demonstrates up to date knowledge and expertise in the specialty
- Willing to provide support to other clinical areas within the division
- Demonstrates awareness of resource management issues within boundaries of role
- Previous experience in audit and evaluation
- Demonstrates awareness of the importance of working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Communicates effectively verbally, in writing and in electronic formats
- Communicates with patients and carers in an empathetic manner
- Demonstrates understanding of good practice in Customer Care
