Job summary

We are delighted to be in the position to expand our specialist Haemoglobinopathy team and are looking for a band 7 Clinical Nurse specialist to join us for a 1 year fixed term contract.

Our Haemoglobinopathy CNS/ANP team care for patients across Guy's and St. Thomas's with inherited blood disorders including Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassemia.

Applicants should have knowledge and experience with caring for patients with sickle cell disease and a desire to develop skills including the education of staff and patients as well as the delivery of apheresis (red cell exchange transfusion).

The haemoglobinopathy team are a well-establishedmultidisciplinary team (including specialist consultants, psychologist and nurses, ward & day unit nursing teams, administration teams, midwives, general practitioners, community nurse specialists and other relevant key stake holders). These individuals work closely to ensure the highest standards of patient care.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who demonstrates specialist clinical skills and a high level of organisational and communicationskills. This role would be suitable for a senior nurse with solid experience of acute care who is ready for the next step in their career. The ability to work autonomously is essential.

Main duties of the job

This band 7 CNS role will support the two advanced nurse practitioners and 2 existing clinical nurse specialists with the care of patients with sickle cell disease accessing our A&E, inpatient wards, out-patient and day care services.
