A dynamic global boutique insurer is on the lookout for a skilled Commercial Combined Underwriter to join their growing team. If you have over 4 years of expertise in general insurance underwriting, specifically in commercial lines, this could be the perfect fit for you. In this role, you will be handling various tasks such as managing new enquiries, dealing with renewals, issuing policies, and keeping strong client relationships while contributing to controlling the loss ratio.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Conducting new enquiry quotations by gathering information, assessing proposals, calculating premiums, and sending quotations.
  • Overseeing policy renewals, evaluating risks, processing renewals, and sending out renewal letters.
  • Issuing policies promptly to meet deadlines and releasing policy documents upon premium receipt.
  • Handling cancellations by confirming with clients and coordinating with the Finance Department for refunds.
  • Identifying survey risk improvements, sending relevant documents, and following up accordingly.
  • Establishing and nurturing effective trading relationships with introducers to drive results.
  • Providing support on online student products, explaining coverage, and offering customer assistance.
  • Delivering top-notch service to direct clients and corporate customers to boost our reputation and increase renewal rates.
  • Assessing risks, setting terms, and conditions effectively to help control the loss ratio.
  • Analyzing retention rates and making necessary adjustments after investigating performance influencers.
  • Ensuring consistent high-quality service delivery to customers.
  • Supporting colleagues and handling additional tasks as needed.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • More than 4 years of experience in insurance underwriting, focusing on commercial lines; experience in personal lines is a bonus.
  • Solid understanding and experience in underwriting insurance risks.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and practices.
  • Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Effective time management abilities to meet set deadlines.
  • Superb communication and negotiation skills.
  • Holding a Certificate in Insurance (Cert CII) or an equivalent qualification.
