Job Description

About the role:

Canalys is seeking an enthusiastic, confident, and conscientious individual to join our team as an Event Executive. Based at our Reading, UK office you will play a pivotal role in supporting the planning and delivery of our unique events portfolio. Reporting to the regional Event Manager, you'll have the opportunity to contribute directly to the success of our events and broader company initiatives.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual who is eager to kickstart their career in the event management industry. While prior experience is not required, we highly value a passion for event planning.

Key responsibilities:

  • Actively assist in the planning and execution of the Canalys Forum EMEA event and support global event team.
  • Coordinate logistics such as venue selections, catering, audio-visual setup, transportation, and accommodation with efficiency under tight timelines.
  • Work with internal teams to develop event agendas, content and promotional materials.
  • Organize extra-curricular event activities, ranging from drinks receptions to fitness sessions.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and sponsors to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Forge strategic partnerships with regional press to maximise event exposure.
  • Elevate event websites and apps to ensure an engaging experience for participants.
  • Provide on-site support during events, including registration management, attendee assistance, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct post-event analysis to influence continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in event management.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in event planning or coordination is a plus, but not required.
  • Passion for the IT industry and enthusiasm for creating exceptional event experiences.
  • A creative mindset and capacity to contribute ideas to drive innovation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and perform well under pressure.
  • Think proactively and use initiative to identify problems and find solutions quickly.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and familiarity with event management software.
  • An understanding that working in a events is not always a 9-to-5 job, and flexible work hours will sometimes be required.
