An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Biomedical Scientist within the Blood Sciences Pathology Laboratory at Grimsby Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital (DPOW) in Grimsby.

The position is for a Band 5 Biomedical Scientist / Trainee Biomedical Scientist, depending on qualifications, experience and potential.


The successful applicant will be part of a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team and will be required to work in all sections of the laboratory including Clinical Chemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion.

The Blood Sciences laboratory at DPOW Hospital is the Blood Sciences capacity site for Path Links Pathology. The Path Links Pathology network receives work from the whole of Lincolnshire. Path Links encompasses Scunthorpe, Goole, Lincoln, Boston and Grantham Hospitals. Grimsby, DPOW is a busy, fast-paced working environment, with excellent training opportunities. We are a large, friendly and welcoming team

DPOW hospital is located near to the popular seaside resort of Cleethorpes and the scenic Lincolnshire Wolds. Ideal for a slower paced lifestyle, but also close to large cities such as Lincoln and Hull.

  • You will be required to have good communication and keyboard skills, along with the ability to work under pressure in a busy fastpaced laboratory.
  • You must be prepared to participate in Training and Continuous Professional Development (CPD). CPD is a requirement of HCPC registration.
  • Grimsby, DPOW is a UKAS accredited laboratory. You will be expected to maintain quality standards including quality control, maintenance and audits.
  • You will be expected to run and maintain high value laboratory equipment. You will need to troubleshoot problems that arise throughout the working day and remedy issues should they arise.
