**IT OFFICER OXFORD UNIVERSITY COLLEGE
Full time based on site - 40 hrs per week

We are looking for an It officer to work in a friendly Oxford College. You will need to be experienced in basic IT provision for Education or commercial premises.

The role is based on site - not home working and parking is not provided so you will need to use public transport or live locally.

**The role

Hours of work will usually be Monday - Friday with an occasional requirement to attend during a weekend for commercial events.

It is anticipated that the role will work solely on site.

  • Provide support to users including computer maintenance, training and advice, including dropin support for students and support for commercial conferences during academic vacations
  • Assist staff with computer usage and troubleshooting
  • Become involved in projects both with the IT Manager and independently
  • Deal with malware and clean up suspected virus infections
  • Maintain information on access control systems
  • Become involved in the basic management and maintenance of windows and Linux servers using existing tools and scripts
  • Work with AV Officer to set up and support audio visual equipment

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Practical knowledge of desktop support for current Windows and Mac operating systems
  • A working knowledge of networking principles
  • Experience of troubleshooting network problems on both wired and wireless networks
  • Some knowledge of Windows servers and Active Directory
  • Familiarity with Linux servers
  • Familiarity with Cisco, Ruckus or Unifi network equipment
  • Virtualisation concepts, with VMware or Hyper-V
  • Knowledge of programming or scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python or Perl
  • Knowledge of automation tools such as Ansible.
