This specialist post will involve you leading the dietetic element of the child health multidisciplinary complex obesity team.

Based at Lancashire Teaching Hospital the team will serve the Lancashire & South Cumbria locality and will be a spoke service of the Manchester Childrens' Hospital and Alder Hey Hospital Complex Obesity Teams.


The service, funded by NHS England, is one of the 15 pilot sites delivering specialist clinics for children aged between years who are experiencing health complications related to severe obesity.

The service will be led by a Consultant Paediatrician with a specialist interest in endocrinology, a specialist nurse and the specialist dietitian and will have access to health coaches, physiotherapists and clinical psychology.

The job role will include leading dietetic outpatient clinics, MDT clinics and inpatient management

The role will involve liaising with other health care professionals, social care, community and safeguarding teams. Teaching, audit and research will also be encouraged.

The post holder will require excellent communication skills and multidisciplinary team working skills.

Applicants should be HCPC registered and able to demonstrate significant post registration experience at a minimum of Band 6 level.

Paediatric experience and ideally experience in clinical dietetics within obesity services (adult or paediatric).

Secondment opportunities will be considered.

You will require access to transport

You would join a team of over 35 experienced and forward-thinking Dietitians, Dietetic Assistants and Administrative staff.


Our Child Health Dietetic Team covers a busy general paediatric department that includes inpatients, outpatients, MDT clinics, group education sessions, the neonatal intensive care unit and a community home enteral feeding service.

We are well established within the children's and young people's division in the Hospital and work closely with all members of the MDT.
