Are you an inspirational resources librarian and leader?


We're looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and committed librarian to lead the management of resources and information across libraries in Nottinghamshire.

Managing the service's resources budget, you'll have a wealth of experience in effective spending to ensure that our customers can access great breadth and depth of resources.

You'll also ensure that our range of services and partnerships provide a high quality information offer that meets our users' needs.

You'll manage our small acquisitions team, and work with some very talented librarians to purchase and manage stock.

You'll develop great relationships with our frontline teams to ensure that libraries' stock continues to be well presented and managed.

You'll liaise with our consortia around stock contracts, as well as being a key member of our Libraries' Management Team.

Job Purpose

_ _To lead, coordinate and deliver an effective and efficient Resources function, and to ensure a comprehensive information offer is accessible to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • To lead and manage the Resources teams,
  • To ensure that the library resources budget is managed to meet the needs of library customers.
  • To gain best value from the materials fund, ensuring efficiency of process in acquisitions.
  • To manage regional relationships and consortia to ensure best value in resource procurement is achieved
  • To manage contracts to purchase on behalf of other library authorities
  • To lead projects and county wide service development and initiatives and ensure they deliver on time, meet outcomes and deliver within budgets.
  • To develop a comprehensive information and digital service offer, ensuring the customer is able to access Inspire's offer through libraries and online resources.
  • To develop partnerships with information and advice providers to enhance the information role of libraries
  • To act as the 'senior user' of the library management system
The post holder will work in accordance with all Inspire policies and procedures, Inspire Brand guidelines,
contractual requirements, and professional best practice


The post holder will perform any duties or tasks assigned by management required to meet service needs as appropriate to the role.

The post holder will assume the role of Appointed Person and/or First Aider as required

_Education and Knowledge Required for the role_

  • Professional qualification in librarianship / information science
  • Extensive knowledge of books, publishing, and information resources
  • Knowledge of excellent customer care
