FABRIC & TRIM ASSISTANT
I'm looking for a Fabric & Trims assistant to join a well established, environmentally astute and super friendly business.

This role will report to the Fabric & Trims Manager and the Head of Production, and will be working with Product Developers, Designers and Production Coordinators.


The main function is to assist in the development sourcing, procurement of fabrics, trims and raw materials to ensure optimal materials.

To assist Fabric & Trims Manager to plan, coordinate and control all raw materials to ensure goods are produced efficiently, in the correct amounts, at the right cost and level of quality.

To ensure all sourcing and development of fabrics is carried out in line with the Ethical, Sustainable and Environmental objectives of the company.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with sourcing and procurement of all FABRIC, TRIMS & RAW MATERIALS
  • Assist with fabric development; lab dips; handlooms and obtain approvals from Design Team and Clients
  • Create Fabric and trims sheets for internal reference and client sign off
  • Place FABRIC & TRIM orders, ensuring PO's are placed on time, with the most appropriate supplier
  • Assist with all FABRIC TESTING from base cloth to bulk.
  • Obtaining, reviewing, approving / failing and recording all fabric test reports.
  • Arrange internal wash tests when needed
  • Link all test reports to range plans
  • Review lab dips and strike offs with Fabric & Trims Manager
  • Update fabric control sheet
  • Assist with the planning and scheduling of production and delivery of all fabrics & trims and working with the Production Mangers to create and manage the critical path.
  • Catalogue all fabric and trims cards in relevant project folders
  • Catalogue all bulk trims, fabrics, prints and embroidery strike offs
  • Build and maintain the day to day working relationship with key suppliers (mills).
  • Negotiate bulk fabric prices to achieve best possible cost price
  • Ensure all COST OF GOODS associated with fabrics and trims are accurately added to the MASTER COSTING SHEETS
  • Compile FABRIC and TRIM cards, complete BILL OF MATERIALS (BOM's) and handover (with Garment Techs) to Product Managers preproduction
  • Update and control all fabrics and raw materials STOCK on Prima system
  • Ensure all FABRICS & TRIMS are delivered on time
  • Assist with fabric QUALIITY INSPECTION
  • Assist with coordination of BULK MTO' fabrics
  • Ensure all fabrics delivered match PO's, and sign off fabric and trim invoices for SAMPLING and BULK PRODUCTION
  • Assist with the management and organisation of fabric library
  • For FULLY FACTORED PRODUCTS, work with both the Fabric & Trims Manager and Production Managers to ensure the right FABRIC is selected and recorded on the BOM in Prima.
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications and on the job training
  • The performance of general TASKS and DUTIES related to your role in order to ensure the smooth running of the SUPPLY CHAIN within the business.
  • Travel within the UK and Internationally is required in this role.

Key Skills, Competencies and experience:

  • 2 years' experience required in a similar role
  • Degree in Fashion/Textiles
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication & time management skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships both internally and with suppliers
  • Superb communication, written and numeracy skills required
  • You MUST have the right work in the UK, this role is office based full time, PAYE
