At Water Merlins our Swimming teachers are all qualified and can diversify the levels of teaching to adapt the lessons to suit children and adults of all ages.

Facilities include a state of the art 25m 4 lane pool, changing areas, viewing gallery and refreshment area.


We are looking for swimming teachers to cover over the holiday periods with a view to picking up permenant shifts from September when a few of our current teachers leave to further thier education.


Our Lesson programme operates Monday to Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, teaching in the water for Ducklings and Stage 1, out of the water Stage 2 upwards.

Class sizes are small varying in size of a maximum of 6-8 dependant on the stage you are teaching, creating a stronger teacher pupil bond allowing a faster progress and generous feedback opportunities throughout the lesson.


All of our swimmer development stages are based on the National Plan for Teaching Swimming, and as such, our Swimming Teachers should hold a minimum of Swim England Level 2.

It would be advantageous if you hold a Lifesaving Qualification (NPLQ or NRASTC), however, if you are a motivated and driven individual, then with our continuous learning and development opportunities, we would be happy to support you in achieving either of these qualifications.

  • Someone who gets great satifaction when a child achieves something new.
  • Someone with great knowledge and understanding of the industry and can adjust the style of teaching for the varying abilities of each child.
  • Someone who has a passion for the sport and wants to help every child learn to swim and to be safe around water.
Lifeguard qualification is not essential but is desired.
