Location: Oxford Brookes University

Rate of pay: £42,000 per annum

Working pattern: 40 hours per week

The role
Management and ownership of sustainability within catering operations at Oxford Brookes University Driving a strategic plan for improvement, monitoring progress and implementing sustainability improvements, aligning with OBU's own internal policies.

The ideal candidate

• At least two years' experience in a sustainability role applying principles in a commercially focused manner

• Working knowledge of sustainability issues within foodservice

• A confident communicator with proven ability to motivate people to change their behaviour

• Familiar with analysing data and presenting complex information in easily understandable terms

• Comfortable working independently and managing one's own workload

• A positive and resilient attitude

• Qualification in sustainability is desirable
Role responsibility

• Lead the development and delivery of the sustainability plan for OBU's catering contract

• Work with clients to drive short-, medium- and long-term actions and activities in line with OBU's internal strategy

• Develop working relationships with student groups and other stakeholders to understand priorities and collaborate on engagement activities

• Work closely with Food and Buying teams to monitor and advance ethical procurement standards

• Track all areas of sustainability across site operations and report on progress

• Proactively research, identify and implement opportunities to continually improve sustainability of procedures, articulating expectations and timelines to all relevant parties

• Coordinate and communicate with external partners to deliver measurable improvements in food waste and carbon reductions

• Compile information for certifications and reporting requirements (eg. The SRA Food Made Good framework)

• Identify learning and development opportunities and deliver training and support to wider team members.
