Job summary:


This role is a designated homeworking role and will entail regular travel throughout the UK, including overnight stays, to visit forces.


Applications for this role are restricted to existing employees of the College of Policing, the Civil Service and officers or staff of a UK police force or UK policing organisation.

Job description:


Support the development of the College's National Police Leadership Centre, contributing to the longer-term goal of developing a consolidated, end-to-end strategy for leadership development for all in policing.

Support the service in its commitment to increasing representation from underrepresented groups across policing, via talent development programmes.

Person specification:

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and supporting engagement with internal and external stakeholders to fully understand the needs of the service in promoting the new Fast Track inspector to superintendent programme and associated positive action requirements.
  • Using the emerging evaluation of best available evidence to inform the national talent development strategy to support attraction to the new Fast Track inspector to superintendent programme and share good practice amongst stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the identification of inhibitors, benefits and risks in attracting to both Fast Track programmes, working with the service to ensure these programmes support maximising the size and diversity of the overall pipeline to chief officer ranks.
  • Coordinating and promoting effective partnerships with the police service, academic institutions, and other key stakeholders to disseminate, encourage and support evidencebased good practice approaches to attracting to and delivering the Fast Track programmes.

To be successful in this role you'll need:

  • Experience of developing strong working relationships with internal and external customers, establishing, and maintaining positive working relationships and removing unnecessary barriers to service delivery.
  • To be proficient in use of Microsoft products, particularly MS Word and MS Excel
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to write and present clear, coherent, concise and timely reports and papers.
