About the role:


This is an exciting opportunity for someone currently working in a project support role and looking to take the next step towards a career in project management.

This role will lead on the coordination of the work produced by teams responsible for the preparation and movement of objects as part of a major storage move project at Blythe House, in West London, with a particular focus on archaeological assemblages.


Key areas of responsibility:


In this role you will work closely with the Project Manager for the storage move project in the planning, coordination and delivery of the relocation of the archaeological assemblages stored at Blythe House to the British Museum's new storage facility outside Reading.


  • Manage a team of Collection Managers to deliver movement, packing and rehousing of archaeological assemblages across the collections
  • Work with the project team, collection managers, curators and conservators to coordinate the processing, transport and rehousing of collections, ensuring that activities align with Museum policy and procedures
  • Plan and oversee collection move logistics, working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordination of contractor and supplier activity, ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services
  • Liaise with the Operations team to ensure that essential project facilities are fitforpurpose
  • To implement and monitor Health and Safety standards for activities and equipment
  • Monitor and report on project progress, risks and issues
  • Monitor project budgets, plan financial estimates and resources required
  • Organise transport related to collection moves
  • To manage communication to internal and external stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned
