As a Clinical Educator working in Umbrella you will be responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of all accredited, core and continuous clinical and non-clinical education programs.


Working with the Clinical Education Team Manager, the post holder will be a visible role model sharing demonstrable skills working across various locations across Birmingham and Solihull providing 'hands on' clinical support to staff to achieve the necessary skills and competence to undertake key Accredited Sexual Health qualifications.


The post holder will be working in collaboration with fellow educators and healthcare colleagues to deliver a consistent and dynamic learning environment for our registered and non-registered clinical colleagues.

You will work clinically alongside staff at all levels to facilitate and support the achievement of competencies relevant to their role.

This will ensure that the education and development needs of the workforce are identified and addressed using approved, proven and reliable methods.


Main duties, tasks & skills required:
As a Clinical Practice Educator you will;

Be responsible for mentoring of clinicians undergoing training in core and accredited clinical competencies through the use of 'on-site' clinical support, clinical audit, and assessment.

You will also provide educational support and training to our Umbrella clinical partners; including Primary care and Pharmacy.


Support clinicians to assess, treat, prioritise and refer patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed sexual health care problems by making use of skills in sexual history taking, physical examination, problem-solving and clinical decision making.

Regularly review the training/educational requirements of clinical staff at all levels within the Directorate.

Qualifications:

Essential:

Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC register

Hold the a minimum of one of the below

Accredited Sexual Health qualifications;
BASHH - STIF Intermediate, and/or

DFSRH, and/or

Equivalent university qualification as

determined by Clinical Education Team

Manager e.g. CASH/BSC in Sexual Health

Willingness to complete and maintain

alternate ESSENTIAL Accredited

qualification/s (where appropriate)

Experience:

Essential:

Evidence of ability to revalidate with the NMC

2 years post registration and recent clinical

experience within a Sexual Health Service or

other relevant environment

Evidence of the supervision and education of

junior staff

Ability to demonstrate an active role in teaching

in current post

NHS, PHE and/or local/ National government

strategy in relation to Sexual Health

Evidence of achievements and career

development in current post and ongoing

professional development / competence

Experience of being a mentor / preceptor

Experience in interviewing and selecting staff

Evidence of further study and personal

development

Demonstration of a significant contribution to

innovative practice or change management
