The Long Term Plan set out by NHS England in 2019 was to ensure every person diagnosed with cancer will have access to personalised care, including holistic needs assessment, a care plan and health and wellbeing information and support.


The post holder will be a key member of the Personalised Care Team and will work collaboratively with UHB School of Nursing, AHPs and Midwifery (SON, AHPs & Mid.), to develop and deliver education and training to staff caring for cancer patients to enable the delivery of high quality personalised care.

This education will include original content and utilise existing resources from Macmillan and national frameworks.

Main duties, tasks & skills required:

Cancer Services and the newly established personalised care team are passionate and focused on improving training and education of staff working within cancer as well as a wider Trust.

This post is pivotal to embedding a culture of responsiveness, and supporting a range of Personalised Care improvement initiatives. We are looking for someone who can support this vision.

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with clinical teams and other clinical educators in the Trust, to provide high quality, patient centred, research based education that ensures the delivery of high quality care for patients delivered by staff who have the required education and development to meet the patient needs in accordance with individual scope of professional practice, guidelines and code of conduct and standards which is defined by their UK regulator ( NMC / HCPC).
  • Develop and regularly review a training needs analysis for the teams responsible for delivering personalised care to patients.
  • Ensure effective and tactful two way communication of complex and sensitive information, related to individual's performance.
  • Able to utilise a range of interpersonal skills to deliver training including listening to others and sharing information.

Essential:

Registered Nurse on the permanent NMC Register OR Registered Allied Health Professional on the HCPC register with experience of cancer care

Mentoring qualification or experience

Professional knowledge acquired through degree supplemented by specialist professional knowledge and knowledge of mentorship, education and development practice, to post graduate diploma level/ equivalent

Evidence of continuing professional development.

Experience:

Relevant and recent clinical experience within healthcare environment, including the supervision / education of junior staff
