We are currently looking for a Business Services Intern to join the Sussex Estates & Facilities Team at Sussex University.

This is a great opportunity for someone currently studying an environmentally focused degree, or has aspirations in working within the energy and/or environmental sectors.

You will be joining the soft service functions within Sussex Estates & Facilities, to improve environmental activity and undertake a number of environmentally focused projects for the University of Sussex, based on Falmer Campus.


Main Duties

  • Complete the logistics required to deliver on the Universities aspirations to eradicate single use plastic, day to day operations and improve recycling rates in line with the University's aspirations.
  • Supporting the Energy Manager in the ongoing environmental improvement strategy, formulating business cases for sustainability refinement.
  • Support the development of the waste management strategy
  • Collate and analyse waste data, which will form part of the monthly reporting to the University and investigate recycling contamination issues and look to resolve them to a natural conclusion.
  • Review and collate service innovation opportunities including security, cleaning, waste and logistics services
  • Support the coordination of estates service delivery during major university events (welcome weekends, open days, ect)
  • Support the delivery of adhoc variable services including summer conference services
