As a Night Youth Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing essential assistance and guidance to young people aged 16-17 in our semi-independent living home.

The role involves fostering a positive and nurturing atmosphere which promotes personal development and ensures the wellbeing of residents. A successful applicant will demonstrate high levels of observational skills, using initiative and an understanding of safeguarding.

Job Role / Responsibilities
The Night Youth Support Worker will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring all young people return to the placement by their curfew time.
  • Reporting a young person as missing or recording unauthorised absences.
  • Maintaining regular checks and contact with young people throughout the night to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
  • Conducting thorough health and safety checks around the property.
  • Offering support and assistance for young people during the night.
  • Responding promptly and appropriately to any emergencies or incidents that occur during the night and reporting to the relevant parties.
  • Following Outreach Homes' policy and procedures for managing emergencies.
  • Maintaining accurate records of incidents and observations during the night.
  • Communicating effectively with daytime staff to exchange relevant information and updates regarding the young people's needs and progress.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Grade C or above in GCSE or equivalent English Language and Mathematics _(essential). _
  • NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care _(desirable). _

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in the care sector with children and young people _(essential). _
  • Experience in working night shifts and security _(essential). _
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding and Data Protection _(essential). _
  • Experience in loneworking with children and young people _(essential). _
  • First Aid and Fire Safety Training _(desirable). _
